I myself have been thinking about the best way for working adults to learn for a long time, and the keywords “interactive” and “personalized” always came back to my mind. UMU fits perfectly into that.
Panasonic HR Development Company, Corporate L&D Department
About Panasonic
  • Panasonic is a global leader in developing innovative technologies and solutions for wide-ranging applications in the consumer electronics, housing, automotive, industry, communications, and energy sectors worldwide.
Goal
  • Since its founding in 1918, Panasonic has been working to “improve and advance society,” and “advance the culture of the world.” They naturally have high expectations with regard to training quality, and firmly believe that “training that is close to the people” is a big part of what makes their company unique.
  • In 2020, Panasonic opted to transition general onboarding for fresh graduates to a completely online setting. They needed this new initiative to be as effective as their previous in-person group training events.
  • But rather than simply replicate previous in-person training online, Panasonic also wanted to focus on the advantages of online training—what could be achieved even better online. They wanted content creators to collaborate more efficiently, and to better engage trainees in multiple regions with online interactivity and gamification. The project had a tight timeline for implementation: one month in total.
Solution
  • Panasonic used UMU to strengthen remote collaboration between directors, senior employees, and trainers on content creation and training. This allowed all stakeholders involved to conveniently create and update high-quality, highly relevant, and highly personalized content together and in a short period of time.
  • With UMU’s strong interactivity and gamification features, Panasonic also scaled up training and team building events for new employees. Trainees were able to connect with trainers and colleagues more easily and get instant access to feedback on performance in inclusive, lively, and interactive online exchanges.
  • Thanks to UMU’s out-of-the-box solutions, the whole project was successfully delivered from start to finish in the allotted time — just one month.
Results
  • The Panasonic Corporate L&D Department achieved results that exceeded their expectations. The training experience delivered proved as effective — if not more — online than in person, and HR reps unanimously agree that “it is because [they] were able to provide training using the UMU platform.”
  • In only a month, content creators collaboratively set up an engaging and interactive learning environment that met their high-quality and tight timeline. They used the UMU platform to conduct general onboarding for 1,000 fresh graduates at Panasonic, with the highest satisfaction rate the program had ever achieved.
